The INSF UN Youth Day World Championship is not merely a sports competition. It is a premier international cultural heritage event designed to celebrate the annual United Nations Youth Day.
Organized by the International Northern Ssireum Federation (INSF), the championship serves as a global platform to promote Northern-style Ssireum—a profound traditional cultural heritage—while fostering holistic youth development.

Overall Competition Rules
The championship is a multi-disciplinary evaluation. Participants compete not only in physical wrestling but also in academic presentation and cultural knowledge.
- Format: Tournament structure with preliminary group stages leading to knockouts.
- Eligibility: Must be the officially recognized National Representative endorsed by their respective National Cultural Headquarters.
- Uniform: Official INSF Dobok (uniform) and authorized belt are mandatory at all times on the arena floor.

Starting Grip
Secure the belt while standing.
Deulbaegi (Lifting)
Core technique to unbalance the opponent.
Match Procedures:
- Referees inspect uniform and belt tension.
- Participants assume the starting standing position.
- The players start the game at the sound of the referee's whistle.
- A point is scored when any part of the opponent's body above the knee touches the ground.
- Matches are typically best-of-three rounds.
Code of Conduct
"Respect for the heritage, respect for the opponent, respect for oneself."
Any display of unsportsmanlike conduct, disrespect to officials, or failure to participate in the cultural/academic portions of the championship will result in immediate disqualification and deduction of national points.
